Background:

The International Conference on Language, Culture, and Communication (ICLCC) 2022 held by the Faculty of Letters of Universitas Warmadewa raised a theme “The Intersection of Language, Culture, and Communication with several sub-topics, namely linguistics, communication studies, education and literature studies, translation and interpreting studies, politics and media, arts and culture. The conference was held hybrid on 25 June 2022 by inviting two keynote speakers from Universitas Warmadewa (Prof. I Nyoman Kardana) and Tokyo University of Foreign Studies (Prof Asako Shiohara). It also invited speakers from RMIT University, Melbourne (Dr. Miranda Lai and Dr. Erika Gonzalez), from Central Mindanao University, Philipine (Dr. Alma Cita Calimbo), and from Universitas Udayana, Bali (Prof. Ida Ayu Puspani).
Arranging the program indicates that Warmadewa has commitment to elevate the knowledge and research activities, especially those related to language, culture, and communication. Those three elements are interrelated as first language is a means of communication as what has been widely and generally known and acknowledged and language is also the main tool to record and pass cultures and culture shifting also affects language in reverse. This forum provides opportunity for intellectuals to present, share, and discuss their research findings on the research areas and build network at the same time. Moreover, this event provides access to research publication.
We have selected 25 papers to be published on our internal journal website. We are happy to have various interesting topics which came from lecturers and students and covered the three big themes proposed: language, culture, and communication. The publication process also involved reviewers who paid attention to the format, language use, and contents of the papers. We are expecting that the scientific papers could provide valuable insights for learning process and for further research.
